Showing a chronological view of the world's history on map. I am a visual person and need to have some representation of the events and relations in order to better grasp the complexity,nuances and incredible connections between poeple across the ages. Thanks to the availability of moderns maps we are able to provide this dynamic view on the world history.

We will use an iterative approach that goes from big picture to details. We will therefore start with the big period of time and then move to more specifics. We will always capture the sources of the information and try as much as possible to capture multiple regognised sources. Be patiant. This will take some time.

Historical Accuracy

The information present in this tool has been mainely consolidated from public site such as WikiPedia. Reference to the source are marked in the tool. We therefore rely on the accuracy of the sources when reproducing the maps. Additional manual errors might be introduced during the capture process.

Geographical Accuracy

Based on the historical information available and on the maps. We also noticed that some of the Map precision are very low (limitation of the source) but sufficient to give an idea of the general area. Some of the boundaries and frontiers are captured on a very high level and we only have access to representation that might have hundereds of kilomerters of errors.

Period Accuracy

It is very common to have a map designed or valid for a specific year. Since we are trying to present the frontiers for a period od time. The period has a START and END date. We make the APPROXIMATION that the map is valid for the complete period. This means that we are not reflecting the changed that might happen in that period of time. An iderative process to split the period and duplicate the map will be undertaken.
